Physical Therapy

Physical therapy is an integral part of the modern health care system. Licensed physical therapists treat a variety of injuries and physical disabilities, helping patients relieve pain and discomfort, prevent re-injury, increase range of motion, restore function, and rebuild strength and stability.

At Spring Hill Physical Therapy & Acupuncture, the therapists are highly trained in both traditional and complementary methods of rehabilitation. They provide personal one-on-one sessions that last approximately fifty minutes and include manual therapy, as well as a broad range of other treatments, including:

  • Myofascial release
  • Craniosacral therapy
  • Acupressure
  • Somato-emotional release
  • Muscle energy techniques
  • Trauma resolution
  • Joint Mobilization
  • Treatments may also include modalities such as:
  • Ultrasound
  • Mechanical traction
  • Electrical stimulation
  • Moist heat, cold packs and paraffin

Physical therapists and physical therapy assistants primarily treat the physical aspects of trauma, injury, and disabilities. Yet because they understand the intimate connection between the mind and body, our therapists also address the psycho-emotional components of the rehabilitation process. Their ultimate goal is optimal health for every one of our patients.

Treatment Options

Myofascial Release

Using various grades of pressure with the hands to release restricted connective tissue (fascia).

Craniosacral Therapy (CST)

CST is a system of full-body evaluation and treatment that views the individual as an integrated whole and utilizes gentle, non-invasive techniques. The application of CST helps enhance the body's innate healing abilities and is helpful for many conditions, including chronic pain, headaches, immune system diseases, neurologic disorders, TMJ, and postural imbalances.

Acupressure

Therapist applies pressure along the acupuncture meridian points with the thumbs and fingertips to balance energy systems in the body.

Somato Emotional Release

Therapist engages in imaging and dialoguing techniques that can guide the patient through an otherwise challenging encounter with long-held emotions. The patient does not need to analyze the problem to release it.

Muscle Energy TechniquesÊ

A gentle, non-forceful technique in which the patient's muscles are actively used from a precise position in a specific direction against a counter force. Techniques are used to mobilize joints, stretch tight muscles and fascia, and improve local circulation.

Trauma Resolution

A body-centered approach to working with the physiology of traumatic stress.

Joint Mobilization

Manual technique to facilitate improved accessory movement of a particular joint.

Electrical Stimulation (E-stim)

Physical therapy modality using electrical impulses to help decrease pain and swelling, and improve circulation to a particular region of the body.

Ultrasound

Physical Therapy modality used to increase local circulation and decrease pain and swelling.

Mechanical Traction

Equipment that mechanically creates forces to stretch and mobilize the spine. Can be used for lower back or neck.
